An Evening With Wright Wines- Thursday 20th Oct

Following on from last month’s Fiesta Dei Vini Siciliana, our next event at the shop sees the welcome return of our old friend Joel, of Wright Wines, for another laid-back evening of vinous appreciation.
On the night we’ll be picking out a selection of wine from shop favourites like Raphaël Beysang, Émélie Hurtubise and Mai & Kenji Hodgson, as well as highlighting some of the more recent discoveries and additions to the Wright’s portfolio, which now numbers an impressive 33 producers. It’s a great opportunity to taste and learn more about some truly singular and below-the-radar natural wines in an informal, mildly hedonistic, environment.
Joel has been bringing in obscure, often highly sought-after wine from small-yielding growers in France for the last five or so years, many of which have been found on our shelves since we opened. The common thread between these growers is the making of wine using fruit from healthy vines tended to without chemical herbicides and pesticides, with natural methods in the cellar - native yeast fermentations only and nothing added but the grapes themselves. Wine that speaks of the place in which it is grown. As is the way with the wines that come from dedicated lists like Joel’s, they demonstrate a distinct house style that reflects the tastes of the importer. We have always enjoyed the wines that have caught Joel’s attention.
We’ll be running from 5pm, and for the first couple of hours you’ll be able to grab a glass and taste through a selection of wines with Joel. After that we switch to a more party-centric mode with all the wines available to order by the glass, plus a few special bottles from the cellar we’ll be dusting off for the occasion.
All welcome. The event is not ticketed, nor is there a door charge. Drop by whenever you like. Hope to see you then!
