About the Wine

Widely regarded as one of the finest producers in Tuscany, Montevertine's simply-named 'Rosso' was the first wine ever made at the estate, originally as a Chianti Classico in the 80s, before they left the DO. True to the form of a Classico, this is mainly Sangiovese (90%) with blending grapes Canaiolo and Colorino making up the final 10%. The wine offers a sound investment for those not looking to reach the dizzy heights of their iconic Pergole Tortebut wishing to experience something profound from this iconic grower. As with all their wines, they are built to go the distance and will reward those who wish to cellar them, as the bold tannic structure starts to soften and integrate.

One of the things that makes these wines so special is the uniquely cool microclimate in Radda from which they hail. They have unmistakable power, but also a certain delicacy as a result. The wine is aged for two years in Slavonian oak before bottling. To drink now, or over decades to come. One bottle per order.
